The County of Kaua‘i Planning Department has released a “Discussion Draft” of the West Kaua‘i Community Plan for public review and comment, according to a county news release.

The West Kaua‘i Community Plan updates the previous Hanapēpē-‘Ele‘ele Development Plan (1974) and the Waimea-Kekaha Development Plan (1978) to provide guidance on land use and investment priorities for the Westside.

The “Discussion Draft” was informed by a participatory process including multiple outreach events, such as design workshops, open house events, and small group meetings. The Discussion Draft comment period closes Oct. 7.

Comments may be submitted at upcoming open house events or at www.westkauaiplan.org, where the draft is available for download. Emailed comments may be submitted to plankauai@kauai.gov. An online “Story Map” that summarizes the draft plan is available at www.westkauaiplan.org.
