Soothing Power of Slack Key Concert

Slack Key Music Center and SMMH Auxiliary have teamed up again to grow the music program for Mahelona Medical Center’s resident Long Term Care patients.

Join them for a concert of traditional slack key guitar and ukulele, raising funds for the programs at SMMH and the Slack Key Music Center. Oliver Sacks, famous author and neurologist, said, “Improvements of mood, behavior, even cognitive function—once set off by music can sometimes persist for hours or even days in people with dementia. Researchers are only beginning to study the secrets of why and how this happens.”
