Celebrating not only the holidays, but the 25th anniversary of Aunty Beverly Apana Muraoka’s halau hula, Healani’s Hula Halau and also, Aunty Bev’s retirement, there will be a performance of hula on Friday, Dec. 14 at the Kaua`i Veterans War Memorial Convention Hall from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Aunty Bev is an institution. Expect the hall, the musical guests from far and wide and the performances to run over. Arrive early for a seat. For information, call 822.1451.

2. My Three Angels opens Dec. 14

My Three Angels, a Christmas comedy melodrama presented as a staged reading, opens on Friday, December 14 at 7 p.m. at the Puhi Theatrical Warehouse, followed by a reception Director Jonel Langenfeld and the cast. Food and beverages will be served.

Tickets are $10 for the opening week and $15 for the rest of the three-week run that takes place on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7 p.m. and on Sundays at 4 p.m. The play continues through December 30.

3. A Silver Anniversary Concert at KCC on Friday, Dec. 14

Kaua`i Community College Instrumental Ensembles present A Silver Anniversary Concert — 25 years of playing beautiful music. The concert will be held at the KCC Performing Arts Center at 7 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

Included on the playlist are Schubert’s Unfinished Symphony, O Holy Night, Sleigh Ride, Beethoven’s Egmont, Take Five by Paul Desmond — recorded by the Dave Brubeck Quartet in 1959, and more.

4. Kaua`i Chorale Sings The Many Joys of Christmas Dec. 15-16

The Kaua’i Chorale presents two concerts for this holiday season with the theme The Many Joys of Christmas. Conductor Lois Ricciardi will lead the chorale on Saturday, Dec. 15 at the KCC Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m.

The group will perform again on Sunday, Dec. 16 at the St. Regis Princeville Resort at 5 p.m.

5. NTBG and Women Artists of Kaua`i hold Art Festival Dec. 16

The National Tropical Botanical Garden and the Women Artists of Kaua’i present their 4th Annual Winter Fine Art Festival on NTBG’s ‘Ohana Day, Sunday, Dec. 16, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the South Shore Visitors Center across from Spouting Horn in Po`ipu.

It’s a free family event featuring great holiday fun, fine art, and live music Gallery quality art will be available in a variety of styles and mediums including paintings, photography, mixed media, and more from artists including Anna Skaradzinska, Patrice Pendarvis, Caylin Spear, Helen Turner, Marionette Taboniar, Rhonda Forsberg, and Bonita Hensley.

Dr. Matt Miller will provide musical entertainment on guitar from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., followed by the Easy Living Jazz Christmas Concert from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Hula from 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.

6. Halau Hula o Leilani presents A Kaua`i Christmas” Dec. 16

A Kaua`i Christmas performed by Halau Hula `O Leilani under the direction of Kumu Hula Leilani Rivera Low. It will take place on Sunday, Dec. 16 at the Kaua`i Veterans War Memorial Convention Hall.
