The Shops at Kukui`ula Merchants to Sell Student-Made Holiday Bags

The Shops at Kukui`ula announced today that beginning Wednesday, November 23, 2016 select merchants will carry holiday gift bags decorated by Koloa Elementary School students for donation. This is the sixth year that the shopping center has supported this annual school fundraiser. Each bag is hand-decorated and includes a holiday tag and bow. The gift bags are available for a minimum donation of one dollar, with all proceeds going directly to Koloa Elementary School. The Shops at Kukui’ula will match the proceeds with a donation of up to $1,000.

“Koloa Elementary School is grateful for our partnership with The Shops at Kukui’ula,” said Linda Uyehara, Principal of Koloa Elementary School. “Koloa students in grades K-5 have decorated festive holiday bags that can be used for purchases made at participating merchants in the center. Proceeds from the event help support our after school clubs program. We have some very talented student artists whose bags are really works of art. We appreciate the community support from The Shops at Kukui’ula in attaining our mission: cultivating respectful problem solvers and independent thinkers who meaningfully contribute in our global society.”

Koloa School students and faculty will be at The Shops’ Kauai Culinary Market event on Wednesday, November 23, 2016, to kick-off the program and distribute the bags to participating merchants. The kick-off will be highlighted by a special performance at 5:00pm by Koloa School kindergarteners and first graders who will sing holiday songs, and the school’s Ukulele Club who will perform under the direction of Kumu Rachel.

“We’re proud to continue our partnership with Koloa Elementary School and we applaud the merchants for supporting the education of our community,” said Helaine Perel, Real Estate Manager of The Shops at Kukui`ula.
