The management and staff of the Sheraton Kaua`i Resort chose to supplement their enthusiastic Kaua`i United Way Annual Campaign by devoting the proceeds from the popular RumFire restaurant’s Table #53 to Kaua`i United Way for the month of October.  All proceeds from this table – excluding tax and tip – were devoted to this important community-building work and by the end of the month more than $5000 had been raised.

“A big mahalo to Chip Bahouth and the Sheraton team not only for their great support for this year’s payroll-deduction campaign, but for their creativity in providing additional campaign fundraising support with this very successful RumFire promotion,” said Campaign Co-Chair Doug Sears.

“Fantastic,” added Kaua`i United Way’s executive director, Scott Giarman.  “Many thanks to all the Sheraton staff for their hard work and devotion to our community.  I hope it was as much fun for them as it was for us and that they get the prominent recognition they deserve.”

“Giving to Kauai United Way is a gift that continues to give to so many in our community,” said Sheraton Kaua`i Resort GM Chip Bahouth.  “We are fortunate to have an organization on our island that demonstrates the aloha spirit everyday with the work that it does for so many in need.  The Sheraton Kaua`i `ohana feels strongly about living as an` ohana with aloha and we are thrilled with the success of our inaugural You Dine We Donate program at RumFire with Kaua`i United Way.”

By directing this donation to Kaua`i United Way, the Sheraton becomes. effectively, the entire community.

Kaua`i United Way supports 29 Participating Agencies, all right here on Kaua`i, that collectively provide more than 80 unduplicated, vital social services that save lives daily and benefit the whole community.

Each year, the volunteer community leaders of Kaua`i United Way’s Board of Directors re-evaluate the changing social service needs of Kaua`i and direct donations where they are needed most.  Because of this exhaustive background work, donors can give to Kaua`i United Way feeling confident that their donations will be used efficiently and provide meaningful services for the entire island.

When those in need in the Kaua`i community get the professional help they deserve, every one of us is uplifted. Let’s all live united — the Kaua`i United Way.
