Sheraton Kauai Resort Announces 2nd Annual Charity Lei-Making Contest

SHERATON KAUAI RESORT ANNOUNCES 2ND ANNUAL CHARITY LEI DAY CONTEST

Winning Non-Profit Organization to Receive May 2017 Proceeds from Table 53

Sheraton Kauai Resort is calling for entries from Kaua‘i-based non-profit organizations to its 2nd Annual Charity Lei Day contest, to be held at the resort’s ‘Auli‘i Lū‘au, Monday, May 1, 2017. The winning lei will receive May 2017 proceeds from the resort’s ongoing fundraising program, Table 53. Guests of the ‘Auli‘i Lū‘au will have the opportunity to cast their votes to determine the winner.

Held in the resort’s signature restaurant, RumFire Poipu Beach, the Table 53 program donates all net proceeds for food & beverage at this special table to a different local charity each month. Launched in October 2012, the program has raised a total of over $170,000 for the Kaua‘i community. April proceeds will benefit the annual Visitor Industry Charity Walk.

How to Enter the Contest
Entries must represent a Kaua‘i non-profit organization that has not been selected as a Table 53 recipient in the last 6 months (since November 2016). An entry form must be completed and submitted to the resort by Monday, April 24. The entry form is available on the RumFire Poipu Beach website at www.rumfirekauai.com/overview/table53. Leis must be delivered to Sheraton Kauai Resort by 4:30 p.m. on Monday, May 1, 2017 in the resort’s Ocean Courtyard.

In 2016, Hanalei Canoe Club won the contest with a lei created by Suzette Hau’oli Smith Gurtler. Entitled “Mea Aloha He Wa‘a Koa ‘Kainoaholokai’ (Beloved Koa Canoe, Kainoaholokai’),” the winning lei was created with stephanotis flowers and bougainvillea in a white and magenta color pattern to indicate the love and care the Hanalei Canoe Club has for its koa canoe.
