lanned Parenthood of Hawaii Action Network (“PPHIAN”) today announced candidate endorsements in a number of key primary races across the state. Endorsed candidates have demonstrated a commitment to protecting access to sexual and reproductive health care and education for women, men and young people across the state.

PPHIAN-endorsed primary candidates include: Neil Abercrombie, Governor; Shan Tsutsui, Lieutenant Governor; Roz Baker, Senate District 6; Maile Shimabukuro, Senate District 21; Nicole Lowen, House District 6; Dee Morikawa, House District 16; Nathaniel Kinney, House District 23; Marilyn Lee, House District 36; Matt LoPresti, House District 41; Michael Golojuch, Jr., House District 42; Robert Harris, House District 48 and Cynthia Thielen, House District 50.

“These candidates know that personal decisions regarding pregnancy and family planning are best left up to a woman and her doctor, not politicians. We trust that these candidates will be strong advocates for women’s health in the Hawaii State Legislature,” noted Amy Monk, PPHIAN Co-Chair.

“Hawaii has long led the country in ensuring access to sexual and reproductive health care and education, largely because of the leadership of pro-choice elected officials,” stated Morgen Johansen, PPHIAN Co-Chair. “PPHIAN is committed to continuing that tradition by supporting those candidates who will lead our state forward – not backward – by championing the health and safety of Hawaii’s people.”
