Women In Need, the Kūpa‘a Kaua‘i CARES (Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security) Act program, and the County of Kaua‘i’s Housing Agency announced the implementation of a program that offers emergency rental, mortgage and child care assistance, according to a news release by the County of Kaua‘i on Friday, July 17.

“This program can provide services for up to 160 households for rent/mortgage assistance and 55 families for child care subsidy to Kaua‘i residents who have suffered a loss of income due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” Mayor Derek Kawakami said.

Mary Scott-Lau, Executive Director for Women In Need, said she is excited to be able to partner with the county and assist the local community.

“Our goal is easing the financial burden that families are experiencing as a result of the pandemic,” Scott-Lau said.
