Sheraton Kauai Resort’s innovative charity fundraising program, Table 53, will benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Assocation of Hawaii (MDA Hawaii) in September. The resort will donate its net proceeds for all food & beverage at Table #53 in the oceanfront RumFire Poipu Beach restaurant during its month-long fundraiser. Over $110,000 has been raised through the Table 53 program since its inception in October 2012.

The Table 53 program is offered at RumFire Poipu Beach, the south shore’s oceanfront hot spot, featuring locally sourced cuisine with global influences, exciting cocktails to ignite your palate and over 180-degree oceanfront views from all of its 240 seats. Table 53 features private booth seating overlooking the beautifully landscaped Ocean Courtyard, inviting fire pits, and Kaua’i’s stunning sunsets. Guests can enjoy nightly specials and signature RumFire favorites all while supporting a charitable cause. The resort encourages guests, “The more you dine, the more we donate.”

MDA Hawaii helps over 350 local families affected by neuromuscular diseases, including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The nonprofit provides medical care and social services to patients registered with MDA at clinics on O‘ahu, Maui, Kaua‘i and Hawai‘i island. MDA Hawaii also facilitates support groups for families affected by neuromuscular diseases, runs a loan closet filled with medical equipment accessible to MDA families and provides a summer camp in Mokulēia for children ages 6 to 17 fighting progressive muscle disease. The Muscular Dystrophy Association is the world’s leading nonprofit health agency dedicated to finding treatments and cures for muscular dystrophy, ALS and other neuromuscular diseases.

Patrons who are interested in participating in RumFire’s Table 53 program are encouraged to make reservations in advance by calling808.742.4786 and requesting Table #53. The table is available on a first come, first served basis. Net proceeds for all food and beverage at Table #53 during dinner service will be donated to the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Hawaii, gratuity will be paid to the server and taxes will be remitted to the State of Hawai‘i.
