Mayor Derek Kawakami and members of the 2018-2020 Kaua‘i County Council were sworn into office by Judge Randal G. B. Valenciano at the Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall on Monday, according to a county news release.

“I am so grateful, incredibly honored, and truly humbled by the overwhelming amount of love and support from my family, my campaign team, my friends, loved ones, and most especially, our Kaua‘i community,” Mayor Kawakami said in front of a crowd of more than 450 people. “I believe that as a community, we are all seeking the same goal. One way or another, we all want a better island, and a better quality of life for all.”

The members of the 2018-2020 Kaua‘i County Council include: Council Chair Arryl Kaneshiro, Council Vice Chair Ross Kagawa, Arthur Brun, Mason Chock, Felicia Cowden, Luke Evslin, and KipuKai Kuali‘i.

The Inauguration Ceremony and County Council Meeting will air on Hō‘ike, channel 53, starting today and lasting for two weeks.

The events will also be available for viewing on www.kauai.gov, starting this afternoon.
