The National Tropical Botanical Garden is inviting everyone — residents and visitors — to a special screening of Mary Poppins Returns at “Movie Nights at the Garden” this Saturday, May 18.

The free screening will take place on the meadow at the South Shore Visitor’s Center at 4425 Lāwa‘i Road in Po‘ipū, across from Spouting Horn. Gates open at 5 p.m. and the movie will start shortly after sunset. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets or low beach chairs for seating.

Food and drinks from several local food trucks will be available for purchase including: gourmet sandwiches from Kickshaws; Koa Kea Catering with Kalua Pork Quesadilla, Cheese Quesadilla, and more; NTBG candy store for snacks. Girl Scouts of Hawaii will also be on site for fun Keiki Activities.

“We are excited to launch this year’s Summer Movie series at the South Shore Visitor Center Meadow,” said Tobias Koehler, Director of the South Shore Gardens. “The movies are a great way for us to connect with the community and our visitors, and to partner with local businesses while showcasing our gardens and sharing our mission of perpetuating the survival of the plants, ecosystems and cultures of this tropical region.”

Koehler said Mary Poppins Returns at “Movie Nights at the Garden” is a free event, but donations are gladly accepted, and will help fund research, conservation and public education programs at NTBG.

The 2019 Summer Movie series will include screenings of Mary Poppins Returns on May 18, and Aquaman on Aug. 24.
