Support a cause while having a ton of fun during the Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital 12th Annual Golf Tournament at Po‘ipu Bay Golf Course this Sunday. Registration deadline is Thursday.

This long-running tournament has become a classic among local golfers, and is a fundraising event for the KVMH Charitable Foundation.

Golf Tournament Chairperson and Foundation Vice-President Steven Kline said the goal is to bring 120 golfers for this year’s event. Last year, the event attracted 104 golfers, a significant increase from the previous year’s 81 entries. If 120 golfers show up this year, Kline said they will be able to close down the golf course.

The event’s format is a four-person scramble, with 20 percent of combined handicap. Maximum handicap for men is 26, and for women is 36. USGA rules apply. Show up in bright purple aloha attire and receive a free Mulligan.

Registration is $120, and it includes green fees, cart, lunch and awards. There will be prizes for hole in one, closest to pin in all par 3s, place prizes and lucky drawings.

The tournament kicks off at 8 a.m., with registration at 7 a.m.

All proceeds from the tournament will benefit the KVMH Charitable Foundation, and will go toward the purchase of new infection control wheelchair/Gerri chair washer and sanitizer.
