KONA BREWING CO. KICKS OFF 21ST BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION WITH LIMITED EDITION BEER THAT BENEFITS SUSTAINABLE COASTLINES HAWAII

Launch party on Saturday includes concert featuring Gomega and The Green

What:                   Kona Brewing Co. kicks off its yearlong 21st birthday celebration with a concert featuring Gomega and The Green, and the debut of the first of four small-batch beers in its new Makana Series, which will benefit four local non-profit organizations dedicated to restoring and preserving Hawaii’s natural resources: Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii, Malama Maunalua, Surfrider Foundation and Hawaiian Legacy Reforestation Initiative.

Each of the beers in the Makana Series incorporates a local ingredient inspired and derived from the four elements of nature: earth, fire, water and wind. The first release, Aina Brown Ale, infuses kalo into the brewing process. Kona Brewing Co. hopes to raise $50,000 for Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii from the sale of Aina Brown Ale, which will be available beginning Jan. 26 until the end of March or while supplies last.  All the beers in the Makana Series will only be available in Hawaii at Kona Brewing Co.’s pubs in Kona and Hawaii, and approximately 20 other bars and restaurants across the state.

Other beers will be introduced in April, July and October.
