For the second year, Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative (KIUC) is giving away 25,000 energy-saving light bulbs to Kaua‘i residents.

KIUC will give away three 60-watt equivalent dimmable light emitting diode (LED)  bulbs worth about $20 at events in Princeville, Līhu‘e and Waimea.
LED bulbs use less energy than incandescent and compact fluorescent bulbs and are cooler to the touch than standard bulbs. And they’re designed to last nearly 23 years.
They’ll also save about $24 worth of electricity annually when used to replace an incandescent bulb.

Here are the dates of the bulb distributions:

·         July 18 from 6-7 p.m. at the Princeville Community Association “Movie in the Park” night, 4334 Emmalani Drive, Princeville.

·         July 31 from 6-7 p.m. at Kukui Grove center stage, Līhu‘e.

·         August 6 from 6-7 p.m. in the Waimea Canyon School parking lot.

Bulbs will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis and supplies are limited.
