Kaua’i Mokihana Festival 9/20 to 9/26/2015 – Composer’s Applications Now Online

All of this island’s songwriters and music composers motivated to share their creative talent are encouraged to participate in the upcoming Kaua’i Composers Contest and Concert . Submit an application on or before August 1, 2015. This popular event held September 21, 2015, 7 p.m. at Waimea Theatre encourages both amateur and professional composers of all ages who live on Kaua’i to participate and perform before an appreciative audience. Categories include Hawaiian, Contemporary Hawaiian, Open and Professional. Prizes and awards are presented.

Kaua’i Mokihana Festival is a week-long celebration, Sept. 20-26, 2015, of Hawaiian culture and includes educational lectures, music and hula competitions at locations around the island of Kaua’i.

Performing his song “Na Kuahiwi ‘Ekolu”, guitarist and composer, Darryl Gonsales, won first place in the 2014 Kaua’i Composer’s Contest and Concert in the professional category.
