Heroine’s Song at the Convention Hall this Saturday

If you like beautiful music and delicious food, there’s a good option for you this weekend. But if you also like to support equality for young women, this is the perfect opportunity.

Heroine’s Song, a scholarship fundraiser for The Zonta Club of Kaua‘i, will be held at the Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall this Saturday. The star-studded line up will bring Broadway headliner Anne Runolfsson from New York. She will be performing on Kaua‘i for the first time with her daughter Tess Adams, plus local Kaua‘i women Jessika Cristobal, Elizabeth Keitzer and famous violinist Kimberly Hope McDonough.

Heroine’s Song is about women who are fierce and courageous, women who embody heart, soul and spirit. There will be songs from Hamilton, the Greatest Showman (This is Me), Wicked, Frozen and Phantom of the Opera. Ray Fellman is the music director and pianist who hails from New York City to accompany the performers.

The doors open at 5 p.m., and pupus by local chefs will be served until 7 p.m., including food from Kiawe Roots, MCS Grill, Hukilau Lanai, Monkey Pod Jam and Haole Girl Island Sweets

The show wraps at 9 p.m., when there will be an opportunity for meet and greet with the artists.

But the best of all is that you get to contribute to Zonta’s vision of “a world in which women’s rights are recognized as human rights and every woman is able to achieve her full potential,” as well as its scholarship mission of empowering women through gender equality in education, “an essential human right, critical to development for all.”
