Many came bearing cakes for the birthday cake contest.

A Birthday Cake Contest recently held at Lydgate Park during the KKCR- Kauai Community Radio 15th Anniversary Birthday Bash enticed twenty one Kauai residents and visitors from Hanalei to Kekaha to enter their creative and delicious cakes. Entries had various names from “Ulu Coconut Cake” to “Pacific Mud Slide” and included categories from standard cakes to gluten free, vegan, raw and a special category for keiki twelve and under.

Three KKCR DJ’s were the judges, honoring Diana Howard from Hanalei with First Place, Carol Bain from Puhi with Second Place and Third Place by Bongo C from Kapa’a. Other place winners were Nanny Nizo, Kimmie Sadoyama, Caela Coberly, Alyssa and Leila along with many other entries. Everyone who entered the contest won a prize, generously donated by Kauai businesses and individuals.
