Great Harvest Bread Co. Grand Opening in Līhuʻe Today

The Great Harvest Bread Company franchise is celebrating today the grand opening of its new Līhuʻe store, owned by Christine Camara and her husband, Stanley. The 40-year old bakery-café will offer fresh bread daily, made from scratch, sandwiches, grain bowls, soups, salads and pastries for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

“We are excited to bring the great people of Lihue Great Harvest Bread and look forward to being integrated in the community,” Christine said. “We will work with local farmers, mill our own wheat in-house and make everything from scratch on a daily basis to deliver the quality product that the town deserves.”

Christine is inviting the community to today’s grand opening celebration that will feature a Bring a Friend to Lunch on Us promotion. When guest present the postcard and purchase a sandwich they will get one free sandwich of equal or lesser value. The last day to experience the delicious deal will be on grand opening day.

Christine served in the air force for 12 years, and worked for the federal government as an IT specialist for the past 8 years. She and her husband were first fans of the Great Harvest bread and after long thought, knew they wanted to bring one to their community.

Dubbed “Bread Heaven” by fanatic customers since 1976, Great Harvest Bread bakeries make bread from scratch with whole grains milled right on the premises. Generally a five-hour process, the baking begins every day as early as 3:30 a.m. But emphasizing it is not merely a one-trick pony, Great Harvest Bread will also offer healthy breakfasts, sandwiches, dinners and desserts for all guests who enter.

Customers can customize his or her sandwich, selecting exactly what is to go on the tasty meal, including the bread it goes on. Great Harvest Bread gives away free slices of bread for the sandwiches to allow the guest to select exactly what he or she wants. Each sandwich is made from scratch and the ingredients are received from local farmers and meat shops.

While much of the world has gotten used to mass manufacturing of processed bread and sandwiches, Great Harvest Bread continues to mill its own high-quality wheat and bake fresh bread by hand, from scratch daily. The wheat berries that are grinded at Great Harvest locations are ordered from local family-owned farms in Montana and offer every potential customer a sample slice of available bread, hot out of the oven.

A common site at Great Harvest Bread is customers standing in long lines for breads, muffins and cinnamon rolls in the morning, as well as lunch and dinner items such as deli sandwiches, including chicken and tuna salad, roast beef and vegan varieties all made on fresh bread made throughout the day. However, there is no cookie-cutter menu at Great Harvest Bread location, due to its “Freedom Franchise” model, which allows store owners to customize the store’s menu to reflect the demand of the local community.

“It is our goal to be good neighbors and bring the community exactly what they are looking for,” Christine said. “Our store is locally owned and committed to our foundation of making bread and food with no artificial preservatives, directly from our ovens to the people.”
