Get a Free Comic Book at Princeville Library on May 7

The free Comic books are coming!  The free Comic books are coming: “Avengers,” “Pokemon,” “Captain America,” “Grumpy Cat,” “SpongeBob” and “Strawberry Shortcake,” to name a few!  The 15th annual Free Comic Book Day event will be celebrated at 22 selected public libraries statewide, including Princeville Public Library (826-4310), on Saturday, May 7.

Just show your valid Hawaii State Public Library System card at designated libraries and receive a special free comic book, while supplies last.  Don’t have a library card?  No worries!  You can apply for one at your local library.

“Our public libraries are excited to be a part of Free Comic Book Day this year,” said State Librarian Stacey Aldrich.  “Comic books inspire us with not only amazing characters and stories but art that ignites our imagination.”

To add some fun and excitement, costumed characters from the Pacific Outpost of the 501st Imperial Legion, Rebel Legion Hawaii, and Costumers Guild of Hawaii will be appearing at Free Comic Book Day library events.  Bring your camera for a photo op with your favorite intergalactic heroes and villains.  Please visit www.librarieshawaii.org or call the hosting libraries for appearance times and more information.

Free Comic Book Day (www.freecomicbookday.com) is celebrated worldwide on the first Saturday in May and participating libraries and comic book shops have given away millions of free comic books over the past 14 years.  Comic book selections will vary by library.  Mahalo nui loa to the Friends of the Library of Hawaii, Gecko Books & Comics and Collector Maniacs for sponsoring this year’s event.
