Free Screening of “EQUAL MEANS EQUAL” Hosted by the YWCA

Friday, August 26th. Free Screening of EQUAL MEANS EQUAL Documentary and panel discussion. Doors open at 6:00pm, film starts at 6:30pm. At Waimea Theatre, 9691 Kaumualii Hwy, Waimea, Kauai.

Free screenings are being provided nationwide in conjunction with other Women’s Equality Day events.

The YWCA of Kauai in coordination with Equal Rights Amendment advocates and community volunteers invite the public to a free screening of the film EQUAL MEANS EQUAL, directed by documentary filmmaker Kamala Lopez. EQUAL MEANS EQUAL reveals the inadequacies of present laws which claim to protect women, ultimately presenting an argument for the urgency of ratifying the Equal Rights Amendment.

Following the film, a panel discussion will be led by YWCA Executive Director Renaé Hamilton-Cambeilh, with panelists to include: Rep. Dee Morikawa, Kauai First Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Jennifer Winn, Linda Estes, and YWCA Prevention Educator Snow Carapetyan.

If you need an alternate format or an auxiliary aid to participate, please contact the YWCA of Kauai at 245-5959 at least five (5) working days prior to the film screening. We are happy to announce that an American Sign Language Interpreter will be provided for this event.
