Koloa Landing Resort announces the first annual “Choy of Cooking” with Sam Choy on Friday, Oct. 20 at the Holoholo Grill. The internationally renowned television personality and restaurateur will be sharing his culinary secrets, while preparing family-style signature cuisine and hosting a talk story event.

Guests will be treated to an evening of entertainment, education and endless memories with a legendary local personality. At the end of the night, guests can take home personalized recipe cards of Chef Choy’s favorites to continue the culinary adventure at home.

To kick off this ongoing event series, Mayor Bernard Carvalho, Jr. is announcing a proclamation honoring Sam Choy Day.

At the “Choy of Cooking” events, guests will have the chance to learn up close and personal with the master himself. Chef Choy will demonstrate some of his favorite recipes, like tako poke, chicken bites, kal bi short ribs and his famous Kaua‘i Island salad.

Guests can be seated at 6 p.m. or 7:45 p.m., with a limit of 100 guests per seating. Cost is $55 per adult, $28 for kids ages 5 through 14, and free for kids under 5 years old.

With 11 top-selling cookbooks and frequent appearances on hit Food Network programs, Choy is a four-time nominee for the James Beard Best Pacific Regional chef award and the recipient of the James Beard/Gallo of Sonoma American Classics Award. At the Holoholo Grill you will experience the sensational aromas and savory flavors of Chef Choy’s island-style cooking and innovative recipes known throughout the world, earning him the title of Hawai‘i’s culinary ambassador.
