Public hearings for CDBG, HOME programs set for next month

 
In preparation for the next application cycle for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding, the Kaua‘i County Housing Agency will be conducting workshops for those that are new to the program and are interested in learning more about it.  
The “New to CDBG” workshops will be held on Monday,Oct. 12, from 5 to 7 p.m. and on Wednesday, Oct. 14, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Līhu‘e Civic Center, Pi‘ikoi Building conference room.
Among the topics that will be covered are the types of projects and activities that are eligible for CDBG funding as well as the basic requirements of the program. In addition, attendees will learn how to design projects involving infrastructure, community facilities and other activities that principally benefit low- to moderate-income individuals, families or communities.
Space is limited and reservations are required to attend. Call 241-4444 to reserve a seat.
The Housing Agency will also conduct its annual public hearings for CDBG and HOME grant programs to announce the availability of funds and new information at the following locations and times:
             Līhu‘e Civic Center, Pi‘ikoi Building conference room – Nov. 9, 4:30 p.m.
             Kapa‘a Public Library conference room – Nov. 10, 4:30 p.m.
             Waimea Neighborhood Center — Nov. 16, 4 p.m.
Those who plan to apply for CDBG funds are urged to attend either a workshop or a public hearing.
