It’s that time of the month to dust off your bike and jump in with the coolest crew in town. The monthly Bikes on Rice starts at the Lihu‘e Civic Center on Rice Street at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 12. This fun ride is held every second Tuesday of each month except December.

These are safe, slow paced fun rides throughout the surrounding neighborhoods designed for all ages and abilities. Bring any kine bike! The rides last about an hour so bring your own water. The crew recommends flat repair kits and helmets (state law requires helmets for kids under 16). They’ll have trained team members throughout the course for anyone who may need assistance.

After the ride, everyone meets back at the Civic Center for snacks and talk story. More details at www.BikesOnRice.org

But wait, there’s more!

On Saturday, March 16, there will be a free, comprehensive Bicycling Skills class for adults at Kapa‘a Library from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (register here). You’ll learn the bike handling skills you need to ride safely and legally in traffic and on the trail.
