Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative (KIUC) will begin a new rebate program onAugust 1, 2015 to help you stop sweating and start saving.

Members who replace an old window air conditioner or buy ceiling fans are now eligible to receive a rebate from KIUC. Get $50 when you replace your old air conditioner with an Energy Star window unit and $25 on an Energy Star ceiling fan from participating stores.

By replacing your old air conditioner with an energy-efficient one, you’ll use up to 15 percent less electricity.

The rebate is good for purchases made between August 1 and October 31, 2015 for residential members, while rebates last. Only Energy Star air conditioners with an Energy Efficiency Rating (EER) of 11.2 or higher qualify for the rebate. All Energy Star ceiling fans qualify for a rebate.

Rebate applications can be found online at www.kiuc.coop and must be submitted no later than one month after the appliance is purchased. The rebates are limited to one rebate for an air conditioner and up to two ceiling fans per household.

Rebates will be paid for replacing existing appliances; appliances for new construction are not eligible. Participants must complete a rebate application and submit it along with a copy of a detailed purchase receipt.
