IMG_0113The Kaua`i Chapter of the American Cancer Society (ACS) will host its 3rd Annual BARK FOR LIFE KAUAI Saturday at Kauai Community College.  Bark For Life is an ACS mini relay fundraising event that honors the special relationship between dogs and their owners, celebrating canine companions who lovingly care and give hope to their humans. The event will begin at Kaua`i Community College in front of the Performing Arts Center. Registration is at 7 a.m. The non-competitive walk around the KCC campus begins at 8 a.m.  Small dogs do one lap, large dogs two.  After the walk there will be games, demonstrations, agility course, and other activities, fun for both dog and human, and prizes galore.

Everyone is encouraged to participate to do what they can to stop cancer, including every family, co-worker, friend, or community member who has been close to someone dealing with cancer.  People participate for various reasons: to honor the unconditional love and care giving qualities of canines, to celebrate cancer survivorship, to honor people and pets lost to cancer, and to fundraise in support of the American Cancer Society mission of eliminating cancer though research, education, advocacy and service.

Canines care. Give hope. Save lives. Canine companions represent unconditional love, joy, security, compassion, and no judgments of human abilities or appearances. Bark For Life is an incredible way to “take a bite out of cancer.” So those with a dog – partner up, and those without come join the fun anyway.  Everyone will make new dog and human friends at this fun event.

Registration is $25 for one canine and its human companion, $40 for two, or $100 for a team of five. Don’t have a dog but want to support Bark For Life?  Simply donate to a team online or at the event.  Sponsorships are also available. Register and donate on-line at www.relayforlife.org/barkkauaihi or call ACS at 246-0695. All proceeds benefit American Cancer Society.
