Kauai’s oldest and largest jazz festival, the 8th Annual All Angels Jazz Festival, will celebrate the music of New Orleans at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, 4364 Hardy Street at Umi in Lihue, February 7-9, 2014. More than a thousand music lovers will gather from all over the world for the critically-acclaimed three-day festival. Friday’s, Feb. 7th 7:00 pm concert, A History of Jazz: Part I, includes opening act The Dean Taba Quartet featuring Andy Suzuki, Nick Manson, and Abe Lagrimas, Jr. Headlining will be Matt Lemmler’s New Orleans Jazz Revival Band with Jason Marsalis, Rex Gregory, Kim Prevost, and Bill Solley. Saturday’s, February 8th 7:00 pm concert, A History of Jazz: Part II, includes opening act Swing Shift with Dennis McGraw, David Braun, Laine Griffith, Hank Curtis, Darryl Miyasato, and Marty Leonard. Headlining will be Matt Lemmler’s New Orleans Jazz Revival Band with Jason Marsalis, Rex Gregory, Kim Prevost, and Bill Solley. Tickets for each concerts are $35 advance and $40 at the door and can be purchased on-line at www.stmichaels-kauai.org or at the church office. The Sunday Jazz Masses on February 9th at 8:00 am and 10:30 am feature an All-Star Jazz Band, a choir of Kauai’s finest singers directed by Randy Leonard, and extraordinary soloists. The Jazz Mass theme is Resurrection, Revival, and Rebirth: A Tribute to New Orleans! The jazz masses are free and open to the public.
