Presented by the Mālie Foundation in support of Ka `Aha Hula `O Hālauaola – 4th World Conference on Hula in July 2014 

Aliana and Uncle Nathan_`Aha Hula 2010WHAT: HĀLAUAOLA: Hula & Music Benefit Concert is a special fundraiser event to support the planning and hosting of Ka `Aha Hula `O Hālauaola – the 4th World Conference on Hula which is scheduled to take place on Kaua`i July 10 to July 18, 2014. Held once every four years, the Māie Foundation will host and present Ka `Aha Hula `O Hālauaola on Kaua`i next summer. This historic event will feature more than 100 kumu hula, master practitioners, cultural artists, experts and scholars in a myriad of seminars, workshops, cultural learning excursions, evening performances and more.

The October Concert will feature a stellar cast of Kaua`i’s finest musicians, kumu hula and their hālau hula, including: Kau`ilani Kahalekai & Friends, Kumu Hula, Kēhaulani Kekua and Hālau Palaihiwa O Kaipuwai, Keli`i Kāneali`i & Kumu Hula, Healani Young and the Ladies of Ke `Ala o Ka Laua`e, Kumu Hula, Kapu Kinimaka-Alquiza and Nā Hula `O Kaohikūkapulani, Kumu Hula, Leilani Rivera Low and Hālau Hula `O Leilani, along with Lady Ipo Kahaunaele & Nā Hoaloha. The event will also showcase the brilliant and amazing Hawaiian music trio, Komakakino from Hawai`i Island who is celebrating the release of their brand new CD, “O Kēia Ka Manawa Now is the Time”. Conference Chairperson and Kumu Hula, Nathan Kalama and Kumu Hula, Maka Herrod a.k.a. the infamous “Boom Shaka Laka Maka” will share and oversee hosting duties for the day’s festivities. Other surprise guests are expected to make an appearance too.

Food and beverage, snacks, leis, Hālauaola Logo Merchandise and arts and crafts will be on sale. Proceeds raised from this event will help to support pre- conference planning, opening ceremony training workshops and conference hosting needs.

Event to be held on the ooceanside lawn of the Kaua`i Sands Hotel in Waipouli. Bring mats, blankets or low beach chairs for lawn seating. Food and beverage, snacks and desserts will be available for sale. No pets, coolers or outside food and beverage allowed. No commercial photography or videotaping permitted without advance
