About 600 persons sampled sweet treats and confections donated by over 30 chefs, restaurants, friends and Zonta members for the 19th Annual Eat Dessert First held on Valentine’s Day at the Courtyard by Marriott Kaua`i at Coconut Beach and sponsored by Zonta Club of Kaua`I Foundation. With over 300 donations in the silent auction, including cakes baked by award-winning bakers, Zonta members hailed it as a winner event, the best yet in the 19 years of the event.

“Volunteers help make it all happen,” said Melinda Uohara, chair of the silent auction and chair of the Foundation. She thanked Kapa`a High School Interact Club, Kaua`i High Key Club and Kaua`i Community College students for their help.

Katie Beer, chair of this event and also fundraising chair for the Zonta Club of Kaua`i — there is also a Zonta Club of Hanalei — thanked donors and sponsors, adding, “All of their support helps to make this event a success and allows us to give more scholarships to deserving young women of Kaua`i.”
