Women in Theatre (WIT) announces a free workshop for the theatre community on becoming a successful stage manager. Cass Foster, who has taught stage management courses at both Ohio State University and Central Arizona College, will conduct the two- hour workshop, to be held at the Aston Aloha Beach Hotel next to the Wailua River on Saturday, September 29 at 11 a.m.

Register in advance via email to Roberta@rnrcable.com; or call WIT Hotline at 635-3727 and leave your name and phone number.

According to Foster, the stage manager is the most vital component of a successful production, being the direct link between the director, producer and actor.

“It’s a complex but highly fulfilling responsibility,” says Foster.

“This workshop is designed to help stage managers understand how to best serve the actors and director and how to keep the producer in the loop. This will also provide directors with help in identifying what they need from their stage manager and what the stage manager will need from them.

“Having directed a great many productions over the years, once I find a stage manager who knows what is expected of them, I bring them on to stage manage as often as they wish.”

While the workshop is open to everyone, space is limited.
