The Blood Bank of Hawai‘is is asking you give an hour of your time to save the life of a loved one. Take the time in February to donate blood — you never know whose life you could help save.

Listed below are the upcoming blood drives on Kaua‘i this February. Note that drives are subject to change. To schedule an appointment or check on drive information, call 848-4770 or visit BBH.org.

Donating Blood: Fast Facts

        One in seven people entering the hospital in Hawai‘i will need blood, but only about 2 percent actually donate.

        Two hundrede blood donations are needed every day in Hawai‘i to maintain an adequate blood supply and fulfill Hawai‘i’s needs.

        One pint can save three lives. Because each pint of whole blood is separated into three components — platelets, plasma and red blood cells — one donation can help the lives of up to three people.

General Requirements to Be a Blood Donor

1-  Be in good health

2-  Be 18 years of age or older (16-17 year old donors with signed Blood Bank of Hawaii parent/legal guardian consent)

3-  Weigh 110 pounds or more (Additional height/weight requirements apply for female donors 16-18 years old)

4-  Bring photo ID with date of birth

Kauaæi Blood Drives – February 2019 (note that drives are subject to change)

  • Kaua‘i High School Library: Wednesday, Feb. 6 — 8:30 a.m.- 2:30 p.m.
  • Kaua‘i Community College – Student Lounge – KCC Student Life Center: Thursday, Feb. 7 — 8 a.m.- 2:30 p.m.
