The County Department of Public Works will hold a public information meeting regarding a Complete Streets project for the areas of Kawaihau, Hau‘a‘ala and Mailihuna roads.

The meeting will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 26, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., at the Kapa‘a High School library.

The proposed design and details for discussion for the project include the following:

  • Peanut-shaped roundabout;
  • 5-feet to 8-feet wide sidewalks;
  • Pedestrian-activated flashing beacons;
  • Concrete medians; and
  • Concrete bus pads and shelters.

Consultation will be conducted in a separate part of the meeting in accordance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act. This project is based on designs developed by the public for Safe Routes to School at a workshop conducted in 2013.
