Community meetings set for next week

Community meetings will be held next week for all Kaua‘i residents affected by the recent flooding.

The following meetings have been scheduled:

· Monday, April 30, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Kōloa Neighborhood Center located at 3461 Weliweli Road in Koloa;

· Wednesday, May 2, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Anahola Clubhouse located at 3900 Kawelo Street in Kīlauea; and

· Thursday, May 3, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Hanalei Elementary School located at 5-5415 Kūhiō Highway in Hanalei.

Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr., the County of Kaua‘i, state, federal, and community partners will give an update on emergency relief efforts, status on infrastructure in and around the affected communities, and information on upcoming recovery plans and available resources.

“While the majority of our immediate relief efforts have been focused on helping our isolated residents in Wainiha and Hā‘ena, we have not forgotten the surrounding communities who have also suffered immensely from last week’s flood,” said Mayor Carvalho. “I am committed to bridging our resources together to help our entire island heal and recover.”
