Due to an increase in complaints for cars being parked on sidewalks, the Kaua‘i Police Department is reminding motorists to follow parking laws as officers will be stepping up enforcement, according to a Kaua‘i County news release.

The Kaua‘i County Code, Section 16-10.1, among a list of prohibited actions, states no person shall stop, stand or park a vehicle on a sidewalk. Violators of Section 16-10.1 may be fined $35.

Police are reminding the public that parking a vehicle on a sidewalk impedes the safety of pedestrians and other motorists. All parking laws should be followed to avoid a citation and reduce the risk of endangering the public.
