‘Beyond the Either/Or God’ Malcolm Miner Memorial Lecture Nov. 2

The Rev. Dr. Yvette Flunder, Bishop of the Fellowship of Affirming Ministries, and Founding Senior Pastor of City of Refuge United Church of Christ in Oakland will offer the next Malcolm Miner Memorial Lecture on “Beyond the Either/Or God” on Thursday, Nov. 2, at 7:00 p.m. at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church in Lihu‘e. The event is free to the public.

Bishop Flunder is an unapologetic disciple and proponent of the radically inclusive love of Jesus Christ. She has raised her voice for justice from the church house to the White House and steps of the Supreme Court. She is a powerful prophetic preacher, educator, and justice advocate, as well as a renowned gospel singer and author.

Bishop Flunder founded Ark of Refuge, Inc., to provide housing, services, and training for persons affected by HIV/AIDS in the Bay Area, across the USA and in three African nations. She is a nationally recognized leader in human rights and LGBT rights.

The evening will begin with soul-filled gospel songs offered by Kaua‘i’s own Karen Dickinson accompanied by Alan Van Zee.

The Malcolm Miner Memorial Lecture provides progressive, stimulating lectures, which connect faith, learning, and life. It was established in memory of the Rev. Malcolm Miner (1920-2012) who was Priest Associate of St. Michael’s. Beloved by many, he was known for his healing touch, affirming laugh, and inclusive theology. Fr.
