June 2, 3 & 4 Kauai Voices Presents Classics II The Music Lives On!
Kauai Voices, the island’s highly popular, auditioned 40-voice choral ensemble, will be performing on Friday and Saturday, June 2 and 3 at 7:30 pm, and Sunday, June 4 at 3 pm. All concerts at St. Michael’s Church in Lihue. Tickets $15 in adv, door $20. Info 838-3006, http://kauaivoices.org

Saturday, June 3, 6-10 am Haena to Hanalei Run
Hanalei Canoe Club will run the annual Haena to Hanalei Run. Free shuttle buses will leave from the Hanalei Pier from 4:45am to 5:45am; the race begins at 7am. The 8-mile race will be followed by awards and a pancake breakfast. There is also a 5K run that starts and finishes at Black Pot, plus a one-mile youth run. Cost is $40 pre-registered; $50 day of the race, which includes breakfast. The youth race is $10. Additional breakfast tickets can be purchased by non-runners for $7. This course is an introduction to Shakespeare. You will spend two weeks every Tuesday on a representative work of each of four major categories of plays that Shakespeare wrote: Tragedies (Hamlet), Histories (Henry IV, Part 1) Comedies (Much Ado About Nothing), and Romances (The Tempest). You will also briefly look at some of the major sonnets he wrote. There will be discussion of the historical and biographical context of the works but most of the class periods will be spent on discussing and analyzing the works. Dr. Richard Randolph has a Ph.D. in English from the University of New Mexico (1996). This is an absolutely Free financial empowerment program for the women of Kauai.
