Bikram Yoga Kaua‘i, the island’s only Bikram Yoga certified studio, has a handful of exciting events planned for this month.

Students can now sign up for Ksenia Kolieva’s back bending clinic this upcoming weekend. Students will learn several techniques for opening the spine in this intensive two-hour back-bending workshop with Kolieva, Saturday starting at 11:30 a.m. Sign up online for $30 at www.kauaibikramyoga.com

On Saturday, May 20, Sarah Waite, one of Bikram Yoga Kaua‘i’s favorite local teachers, is offering a Posture Clinic starting at 11:15 a.m. She will cover a variety of postures by demonstrating and explaining the benefits of each posture.

“This is a great chance to come with questions about your practice and get one-on-one attention from a long-time teacher and practitioner,” Bikram Yoga Kaua‘i owner Samantha Lockwood said.

On the last weekend of May, Bikram Yoga Kaua‘i will have a special guest named Jeremy Morrelli, coming to share his meditation teachings. He lived and trained as a monk in Tibet. The studio will host Morelli for two days; on Saturday, May 27 and Sunday, May 28 for $125 for both sessions. Each day will be 3-4 hour sessions.

Kaua‘i’s only Bikram Yoga certified studio has invested on a brand new floor, according to Lockwood.

“Our new high-tech Hot Yoga Floor gives some students more comfort to deepen their yoga practice. Our students are raving about how much they love it,” she said.

For those with a busy schedule, Bikram Yoga makes it easy for students to come to class and go to straight to work or just go on with their day.

“We are the only (yoga) studio on Kaua‘i offering changing rooms and showers for the convenience of students who want to take class then get ready and go about the rest of their day,” said Lockwood, adding each class is 90-minutes long. “So you get your heart rate up and really get healing for the back, spine, knees and all joints and internal organs!”

Bikram Yoga Kaua‘i is at 4-885 Kuhio Hwy, at Choy Village Center, just north of Safeway Kapa‘a. Visit www.kauaibikramyoga.com or call 823-9642 for more information.
