‘The Secret of Kells’ won seven international film festival awards, and was nominated to five additional film awards, including Best Animated Feature for the 2010 Oscars.

Anaina Hou Community Park in Kilauea, Kaua‘i’s North Shore, will present “The Secret of Kells” on Friday, the third film in their 2017 First Friday Free Film Series.

“Last month, over 100 members of our community joined us for our free film,” shared Thomas Daubert, Executive Director of Anaina Hou. “This month, in honor of St. Patrick’s Day and Earth Day, we are pleased to present ‘The Secret of Kells’, the 2010 academy award nominee for the Best Animated feature. This film is a sweeping story about the power of imagination and faith to carry humanity through dark times. It showcases Brendan and the fairy Aisling as they find a book brimming with secret wisdom and powers, and they travel to an enchanted forest on a dangerous quest.”

The series will continue with another free film presented on the first Friday of each month through October. The First Friday Free Film Series takes place on the event lawn at Kauai Mini Golf. Bring a good blanket or beach chair, and come early and save a spot. Refreshments and dinner will be available for purchase from the Anaina Hou Café and the film will begin at dusk, around 6 p.m.

This event is presented by Anaina Hou Community Park, a nonprofit organization in Kilauea on the North Shore of Kaua‘i. The organization and was established in 2010. Today, Anaina Hou features Kaua‘i Mini Golf and Botanical Gardens, a Café and Gift Store, access to hiking and mountain biking the Wai Koa Loop Trail, two weekly Farmer’s Markets featuring local food and crafts, a Playground and Skate Park for our keiki, HI-5 redemption, free events including the Kilauea Night Market and Free Movie Series, and more.
