Anni Caporuscio

Anni Caporuscio is the owner and operator of one of Kaua‘i’s most cherished coffee shops, Small Town Coffee in Kapa‘a. Last month, she celebrated 11 years of ownership of Small Town. But her relationship with coffee goes way back; she’s been in the coffee industry since high school.

With multiple awards to prove it, Anni can stand her own against the best baristas in the country. She said she loves having the opportunity to be a part of people’s day, “give them a good cup of coffee, a good word, you know. And I really love working with my staff.”

Stephanie Kaluahine Reid

Stephanie Kaluahine Reid has been working in public relations for 31 years. She’s the Director of Public Relations for the luxurious St. Regis Princeville Resort, overlooking the gorgeous Hanalei Bay, one of Kaua‘i’s most valuable gems.

“Kaua‘i is a treasured place in the world. My father taught me that we must act as stewards of our island home, with respect and care. In turn, I have been able to share this with the many visitors I have encountered throughout my career,” she said.

Maryanne Kusaka

Maryanne Kusaka works in real estate and consulting since 2005. But she’s most remembered for more than 30 years of service as a schoolteacher and two terms as Kaua‘i Mayor, from 1994 to 2002.

She said working in real estate helps her to meet new people and get acquainted with what’s happening in our community. She is concerned that in the last 15 years, our island population increased almost 20,000 to 75,000. As the price of real estate keeps going up, she said, there isn’t anything affordable in the market for locals. “We need to take care of our local people,” Maryanne said. “We need to really take care of them, and we are not doing that.”

Maryanne is also active in the community through the Kaua‘i Museum, where she serves as the president of the Board of Trustees. Being a part of the museum for the last seven or eight yeas, she said, is one of the most rewarding things about her retirement.

Paige Moura has been with working at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital for 20 years. She’s currently an administrator at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital, but for the most part, she said, her job was the administrative assistant to Peter Klune, Kaua‘i Region CEO at Hawai‘i Health Systems Corporation, which operates Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital.

Paige said there are many rewarding things about her job, but the most gratifying one is being able to help the people. The work of administration is hardly confined to an office. She gets to out in the community often and provide services, she said.

Tiffany Grande

Tiffany Grande, along with her mother, Jo Grande, founded Grande’s Gem way back in 1982. Since then the store has built a solid reputation among locals and residents.

“Our family business is fine jewelry,” said Tiffany, adding they make their own designs, and carry jewelry from other designers too.

About 12 years ago, Tiffany took over the family business, and Jo is now retired.

Today, Grande’s Gems is in three locations; Princeville, Lihu‘e and Po‘ipu. And Tiffany said she just opened a boutique at The Shops at Kukui‘ula in Po‘ipu, called Mana, selling jewelry and clothing.

Faith Campbell is the marketing manager for Wilcox Health, which is comprised of Wilcox Medical Center and Kaua‘i Medical Clinic. This includes all internal and external communication, advertising, content marketing and public relations.

She has been with Wilcox Health for only two-and-a-half years, but brought with her a ton of experience from having worked advertising and marketing for more than 20 years in New York and Sydney, Australia.

Faith said she loves interacting with and giving back to the community. “My job allows me to do that through our community outreach and education events. Wilcox Health’s mission is to create a healthier Hawai‘i, and I am proud to be a part of that,” she said.

Aunty Angeline

“Aunty” Angeline Kaihālanaopuna Locey

“Aunty” Angeline Kaihālanaopuna Locey passed away on Jan. 24, at 88 years old. Loved by many on Kaua‘i and abroad, Aunty Angeline was an exceptionally skilled Hawaiian lomi-lomi practitioner. She dedicated her life to healing others with her gifted lomi-lomi touch.

Born in Honolulu on July 30, 1928, Aunty Angeline opened her Mu‘olaulani Wellness Center in Anahola in 1985. There, she spread her infinite aloha by helping so many people seeking her healing touch of lomi-lomi massage.

Though Aunty Angeline has passed away, her aloha lives on through her family members at Aunty Angeline’s Mu‘olaulani.
