In celebration of the centennial birthday of the historic Kaua`i County Building, the Kaua‘i County Council in collaboration with the Kaua‘i Historical Society is offering free guided walking tours of Kaua‘i’s first government building. Council Chair Jay Furfaro will lead tours on the first Friday of each month starting Friday, August 3 and running until the end of 2012. Tours meet at 10 a.m. on the front steps of the County Building.
Furfaro will take visitors on a walk through time, beginning when the property was first acquired in 1912, and ending in the present day. Furfaro will guide visitors through the County Council offices, including the newly-renovated conference rooms and Council Chambers, sharing how the rooms are used for county functions.
“The Historic County Building shares a rich background of Kaua‘i’s government history that all residents should learn about,” says Furfaro. We want people to know that our doors are always open as this is the people’s building. We welcome visitors to stop in during our regular business hours between 7:45 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.”
