NTBG and KCC Present “Climate Change and Kaua‘i: A Positive Response,” Free Talk, Jan 19

National Tropical Botanical Garden (NTBG) and Kaua‘i Community College (KCC) announce the first presentation of their 2016 ‘What in the World’ free public lecture series on Tuesday, January 19 at 5:30 p.m. The talk, entitled “Climate Change and Kaua‘i: A Positive Response,” is being presented by Pamela “Rina” Gordon in the cafeteria at the KCC Campus Center in Puhi.

How Kaua‘i can play an important role in creating a more sustainable global community is a key focus of Gordon’s lecture. She will offer positive strategies she says can help protect Kaua‘i’s rich biodiversity and natural resources from the impacts of climate change.

In addition to presenting recent scientific findings, Gordon will explore climate change mitigation strategies that include renewable energy, design-for-environment principles, and circular-economy practices. Gordon, a climate leader with the Climate Reality Leadership Corps, is also the author of Lean and Green: Profit for Your Workplace and the Environment. She works with educators, business leaders, politicians, and professionals as a climate change consultant.

The “What in the World” lecture series is one of many collaborations between the nonprofit National Tropical Botanical Garden and Kaua‘i Community College. Both NTBG and KCC share a common goal of quality education to truly change lives. NTBG is a not-for-profit institution, headquartered in Kalaheo. KCC, which is part of the University of Hawai‘i system, operates a large campus in Lihu‘e.
