County officials announce a newly redesigned County of Kaua‘i website, www.kauai.gov, which offers residents and visitors more convenient access to local government services and information.

The upgraded site incorporates many improvements from the old site as well as new features, such as the Financial Transparency Portal, a financial data platform that provides easy access to the county’s budget information.
“The new website is in line with our Holo Holo 2020 vision, which aims to create a more transparent, user-friendly government,” stated Mayor Bernard P. Carvalho, Jr. “It gave us the opportunity to incorporate suggestions from users of our old site. We are also very excited to launch the innovative financial transparency feature.”
The Financial Transparency Portal, powered by OpenGov.com, provides annual and current year reporting of the county’s revenues and expenses. Users can manipulate data that is instantly viewable on interactive and visually-appealing graphs. Financial data can also be downloaded to an Excel spreadsheet.
Other new features to the site include an upgraded infrastructure and development platform, with increased performance and flexibility. It also includes a mobile responsive user interface, which provides better translation to smaller screens on smart phones and tablets. The new website includes centralized access to online services with increased visibility, making it easier to locate the most-used features of the site, while expanding public awareness about all available services.
Improvements to the site remain ongoing and there are future enhancements on the horizon, such as expanded geographic information system (GIS) mapping and information, and a centralized calendar.
“Redesigning our county website was a monumental undertaking, and we are very grateful to our Information Technology personnel who did an outstanding job in responding to community feedback,” added Mayor Carvalho. “The features of the new county website provide another opportunity in our ongoing effort to enhance transparency and public engagement.”
