The 11th Annual Golf Tournament organized by KVMH Charitable Foundation Nov. 22 in Po‘ipu was an ace in the hole.

For the first time, the event attracted more than 100 golfers; 104 to be exact. This represents a 25 percent increase in entries compared to last year’s 81 entries.

The money raised — between $10,000 and $12,000 — will be donated to Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital to help in the purchase of a machine called Division BiPAP Ventilator, according to foundation treasurer Michele Higgins. The new equipment whill be used in the hospital’s ER and ICU, replacing a 15-year-old ventilator for which parts are no longer available, she said.

The foundation, along with the hospital’s Auxiliary Department, holds several fundraising events each year — craft fair, orchid sales, bon dance, symphony night, golf tournament and fashion show — to help KVMH purchase new equipment.
