KCC-NTBG Lecture Series for Fall 2015

NTBG-KCC’s Balance of Nature lecture series continues on Tuesday, September 8 with a free public showing of the award-winning 2013 documentary Seeds of Time. The film will be shown starting at 5:30 p.m. in the cafeteria at the KCC Campus Center in Puhi.

This 1-1/4 hour film takes viewers on a round-the-world journey with agricultural pioneer Carey Fowler as he works frantically to help others collect and preserve the world’s seed diversity. In the face of climate change and other environmental threats, Fowler and fellow seed savers engage in an “epic struggle for the future of food.”

Join Fowler as he travels from the Svalbard Global Seed Vault in Norway to Rome, Russia, Iowa, and Peru in his quest to protect what is arguably one of mankind’s most important resources – the genetic diversity of food crops.

Beautiful, captivating, and urgent, Seeds of Time is a must-see film for anyone interested in plants, farming, and the future health of our planet.

The lecture series is one of many collaborations between the nonprofit National Tropical Botanical Garden and Kaua‘i Community College. Both NTBG and KCC share a common goal of quality education to truly change lives. NTBG is a not-for-profit institution, headquartered in Kalāheo. KCC, which is part of the University of Hawai‘i system, operates a large campus in Līhu‘e.
