The paddlers of Niumalu Canoe Club, located in Kalapaki Bay are gearing up for this year’s fundraising event to be held on Saturday, May 23, 2015. The Water Day Festival will be at Nawiliwili Park next to the Niumalu Canoe Club Hale from 11 am to 3 pm. Activities for the keiki include multiple waterslides, craft tent, food booth, lucky drawing and silent auction. The event costs $15 for children (ages 3-18) and that provides full use of the slides for 4 hours. Children 2 and under and adults over 18 are free.

Lucky drawing tickets are $5 and can be purchased by any Niumalu Canoe Club paddler or at the event. Prizes include gift certificates, clothing, food and art. The drawing will take place at the Nawiliwili Park, however you do not need to be present to win.

The silent auction is going to be filled with accommodation certificates from Kauai’s world- class resorts, spa treatments, boat trips, jewelry, complimentary registration for the 2015 Kauai Marathon and much more.

With the community’s support, the club wants to reach their goal of $15,000. The Niumalu Canoe Club is a non-profit organization that depends on grants and fundraising events to continue to inspire and educate participants about outrigger canoe paddling. Proceeds from Water Day Festival will go towards building their first ever koa canoe, support of the keiki program as well as assist adult paddlers as they travel off island for long distance races.
