In celebration of the third annual Star Wars Reads Day (SWRD), seven public libraries in Hawaii will present special programs and activities on Saturday, October 11. Kahuku Public & School Library will celebrate SWRD III a few days earlier on Tuesday, October 7. The public is invited to attend this free event.

Participating libraries will offer activities and giveaways which may include: lucky drawings for participants to win Star Wars prizes; movie screenings, crafts, and meet-and-greet Star Wars costumed characters. Star Wars Reads Day is an international event that celebrates reading and the popular “Star Wars” movie series created by George Lucas. Last year, more than 2,000 Star Wars Reads Day events were conducted worldwide. The event was created by Lucasfilm and its publishing partners – Abrams, Chronicle Books, Dark Horse, Del Rey, DK Publishing, Klutz, Random House Audio, Scholastic, Titan Magazines and Workman.

This event is suitable for all ages. Contact the hosting library as soon as possible if a sign language interpreter or other special accommodation is needed. And May the Force Be With You!
