breast-cancer-awarenessThe county Committee on the Status of Women is inviting the public to join them for a Breast Cancer Awareness Walk this Wednesday, Oct. 1.

Led by Bev Brody with Get Fit Kaua‘i, the walk will start at 11:15 a.m. with a warm-up at the Mo‘ikeha Building (round building) at the Lihu‘e Civic Center. Following the warm-up, the walkers will head to Wilcox Memorial Hospital and return back to the starting point.

Participants are encouraged to wear anything pink and comfortable walking shoes.

Light refreshments will be available after the walk.

The event is being held in recognition of October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The county Committee on the Status of Women is part of the Hawai‘i State Commission on the Status of Women, which strives to advance the status of women and girls by acting as a catalyst for positive change through advocacy, education, collaboration and program development.

The committee meets on the third Wednesday of the month. The next scheduled meeting is Oct. 15, at 5 p.m. at the Mo’ikeha Building, Meeting Room 2A/2B.

All committee meetings are open to the public.
