PMRF 5K Sunset Run draws 100-plus island runners

More than 100 runners take off at the start of the Pacific Missile Range Facility’s 5K Sunset Run, July 19. A field of 107 total participants from all over Kauai ran the course from Shenanigans restaurant winding to the south gate and back as the event was open to the general public. Jackie Reding of Kapa’a came in first place overall with a time of 21:09, followed immediately by second-place finisher and first in the men’s division Brian Reynolds, at 21:10. Robert Russell placed third with a 21:48 finish. “It was great to see more than 100 runners come out, including entire military families and our local Kauai neighbors,” said Morale, Welfare and Recreation Director William Bray. “This was the largest run in quite a while on PMRF and the Fit Crew is already working on the next major event planned around Halloween.” (Photo by Stefan Alford)
