Pier 1 Imports Kauai InvitationPier 1 Imports announced the opening of its newest store in Lihu‘e this Friday.

The store, which will be the first Pier 1 on Kaua‘i, will open at Kukui Grove Center at 4303 Nawiliwili Rd. (at the former Border’s location), with a blessing, Hawaiian entertainment and giveaways.

“We are honored to continue our commitment to our Hawai‘i customers with the openings of our first store on Kaua‘i and an additional store on O‘ahu,” Pier 1 Executive Vice President of Sales Sharon Leite said in a press release.

On May 23, Pier 1 will also open a new store in Kapolei, O‘ahu.

The Lihuʻe and Kapolei stores will feature Pier 1’s New Store Concept — featuring rustic, natural materials, enhanced lighting and open-stock merchandise — and will be the sixth and seventh Pier 1 stores in Hawai‘i. The company currently has three stores on O‘ahu in Honolulu, Kailua and Pearl City, one on Maui in Kahului, and one on the Big Island in Kailua-Kona.

In celebration of the two new stores, Pier 1 Imports will host a statewide grand opening celebration from May 30 to June 1 at all Hawai‘i locations.

“At Pier 1 Imports, we are pleased to offer an eclectic and fun array of affordable home décor, furniture and gifts, and we look forward to continuing to share our unique shopping experience with the residents and visitors of Hawai‘i,” Leite said.

The Lihuʻe store will be led by store manager Nick Chow. The store boasts 8,470 square feet of total retail square footage and will employ approximately 25 associates to support the new store opening. Associate hours will fluctuate based on the needs of the business and the season.

Friday’s opening festivities for Lihu‘e’s Pier 1 will start at 9 a.m. with a traditional Hawaiian blessing ceremony by Kahu Lady Ipo Kahaunele. At 9:30 a.m., the store will officially open.

The grand opening will feature untying of maile lei, live entertainment, a free signature reusable bag and iconic Pier 1 Imports backscratcher for the first 300 shoppers, as well as other festivities throughout the day.
