Free Film Documentary “It’s A Girl” Hosted by Zonta Club of Kauai, YWCA & PAU Violence/KCC

Aloha Friends,

I am writing you about a new documentary that exposes the gendercide occurring in India and China, and how you can see it. I think you will be interested in this film because it brings awareness internationally about gendercide (another form of violence against women and girls).

Every year millions of babies and young children are killed, neglected or abandoned simply because they are girls.  The United Nations estimates as many as 200 million girls are missing in the world today because of this gendercide.

This documentary film, called It’s a Girl, tells the stories of abandoned and trafficked girls, of women who suffer extreme dowry-related violence, of brave mothers fighting to save their daughters’ lives, and of other mothers who would kill for a son. Global experts and grassroots activists put the stories in context and advocate different paths towards change, while collectively lamenting the lack of any truly effective action against this injustice.

The September 2012 has launched an International Screening Tour and action campaign which Zonta Club of Kauai, YWCA & PAU Violence are presenting on April 23, 2014

See attached flyer for details and free showing of the film documentary.
