The 20th Annual FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS at Kauai’s Historic County Building

Step Inside and let the magic begin! The best place on Kauai for photos with Santa. See the most beautiful display of handmade Kauai-style decorations. Holiday fun for everyone! ALL FREE!

The Opening Ceremony of the 20th Annual Festival of Lights featuring the Kauai Chorale and a spectacular Lighting Countdown led by Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Historic County Building is on Friday, December 2 from 6-6:30 PM. It is followed by the Lights on Rice Parade. After the parade the Festival of Lights display of dazzling Holiday creations will be open through 8PM.

Visitors will love our “Santa’s Gone Kauaiian” theme and the gorgeous hand-crafted “trash to treasure” decorations art-directed by Elizabeth Freeman and created by Kauai’s talented teens!

In the twinkling interior look for our dazzling new upcycled “Over the Rainbow Tree”, our “Bling It On” Peacock Tree, Santa’s Cane Train Village, and everybody’s favorites: the SPAM Can Tree and “Surfin” Santa”!! New this year is our “Beautiful Kauai” Tree featuring hand painted ornaments by Kauai’s outstanding local artists. Each ornament will showcase one of the Garden Island’s most scenic treasures Each And don’t miss the glorious collection of Christmas Folk Art created by Auntie Josie Chansky. And it’s all FREE!

Saturday, December 17 from 7-8PM: Mary Lardizabal’s Kapa’a Middle School Choir and Ukulele Band.

December 18: Flutist Rene Janten

Friday, December 23 and Saturday, December 24: Violinist Kimberly Hope McDonough

The Festival of Lights is open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening with Santa and Mrs. Claus from

6-8PM through December 24. It is Open on Christmas Eve. After Christmas it will be open on Friday, December 30th.

The beautiful lights in the Historic County Building Park can be seen every evening from December 2nd through New Year’s Day.
